What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) therapy is a completely natural method for skin rejuvenation and repair based on using your own plasma to inject in the treated areas to cause your skin to regenerate and to reverse the signs of aging like pigmentation, lines, loose skin and also scarring.

This treatment is also known to be called “the vampire facelift” because it is based on harnessing the natural healing power of your own blood’s plasma. These are proteins that promote the healing of damaged skin, including healing of aged skin. Following the injection, the platelets release these proteins (referred to as growth factors), which in turn trigger surrounding cells to proliferate and repair damage; as a result, the skin’s volume increases and the skin becomes firmer, radiant and more rejuvenated.

PRP Therapy Can Be Used On:

  • The face, around the eyes, mouth and nose and the lower cheek area
  • The back of your hands
  • Scars, including surgical scars, acne scars
  • The neck
  • Stretch marks
  • For hair growth in baldness (men and women)

What to Expect?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Charlebois will start off with discussing with you the indications and your suitability for this treatment. The appointment will start off with Dr. Charlebois drawing a small amount of blood, which will then be centrifuged to isolate your plasma that contains the platelets. Then followed by injecting the platelet-rich-plasma into the treatment area, while using the U-225 injector by RegenLab. The U-225 is designed to inject with precise ease and without any discomfort , thus no need for numbing cream. On occasion, minor bruising and redness in the injected areas may occur, yet you may resume your normal daily activities immediately after. There's typically no downtime, PRP virtually goes undetected, providing protocol has been followed 24 hours prior.

The Results?

Essentially the skin is already showing signs of tightness and brightness the very next day and an increase in volume continues to evolve over the following next 6 months. Protocol for PRP is typically 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart for optimum results. Maintenance is required once per year, although having more would be entirely up to each clients preference.
